9 December 2016 – Deal includes bunker and emissions monitoring, reporting and verification modules for 10 VLCCs and 20 VLOCs.
Singapore-based vessel monitoring firm Ascenz has secured a contract with China Merchants Energy Shipping Company for delivery of its Shipulse modules.
The units that measure performance and energy efficiency will be installed on 10 VLCCs and 20 VLOCs newbuildings, Ascenz told Bunkerspot in a statement.
Ascenz's Shipulse modules are able to provide real-time visualisation of a vessel's bunker profile and record emission data in line with EU monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) regulation standards.
The first installations will be completed in the end of 2016, with the remaining vessels scheduled for installation across the next three years to the second quarter of 2019.
'This represents our clients' continued focus on improving fleet efficiency by having the latest technology at managing vessel performance,' says Sia Teck Chong, COO/CTO for Ascenz.
'This is also in line with upcoming MRV regulations where Shipulse can assist shipowners in emission compliance.'
